Who we are

Habit Jr. is a family routine app operated by Kitakaya LLC, offered to families in the United States. Contact us about privacy at [email protected] or (949) 346-7578.

Information about adults

When a parent or caregiver signs in we keep:

  • The account details Sign in with Apple shares with us (an Apple account identifier and an email address, which may be an Apple private relay address).
  • Your household name and time zone, and your role and permissions in the household.
  • A record of the parental permission you gave and the version of the notice you saw.
  • If you subscribe, Apple handles the payment. We receive the subscription's status, plan, renewal date, and Apple transaction identifiers, never your card or bank details.
  • Changes you make to plans, check-ins, and corrections, so your household has an activity history.
  • If you invite another adult to your household, the email address you enter, so we can send them the invitation.

Information about children

Children do not create accounts. A parent creates a child profile and we keep:

  • A nickname you choose (not a full name) and a broad age band (for example 6–8). We never ask for a birth date.
  • The buddy character and color your child picks, the sticker layers they earn and wear on it, and their celebration setting.
  • The tasks and routines you plan, when your child marks a task done or undone, and any check-ins or corrections an adult makes.
  • Your child's weekly reflection (Easy, Just right, or Tricky), stickers, and progress. Children cannot type free text.
  • A label for each linked child device (for example "Kitchen iPad"). We do not collect device identifiers for advertising.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your child's photos, voice, video, precise location, contacts, or advertising identifiers, and we show no ads.

How we use information

To run the service: show plans, record completions, calculate scores and reviews, keep the household secure, and let adults manage access.

  • No advertising, ad tracking, or selling of personal information.
  • No third-party analytics or tracking tools in the app.
  • Read-aloud uses your device's built-in speech and never records audio.

Sharing

Adults in your household see what their role allows. Children see only their own plan and progress, never a sibling's; a shared family jar shows the family's combined points for the week, not anyone's share. We use service providers to host the service and to send account emails; they may use the information only to provide that service to us. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect someone's safety.

Friend families, only if you invite or join one:

If you invite another family or join theirs, the kids and parents in your crew (up to 8 families) see the nickname and buddy look of each child you choose to share, and a total of the points the shared kids earned together that week. They never see tasks, routines, a child's own points, or your contact details. Other parents see your household name and your first name.

Shared kids can send each other one of four ready-made cheers, at most once a day per friend. They cannot type messages or share photos.

You choose which children are shared, can turn high-fives off, and can stop sharing a child or leave the crew at any time; your child disappears from the other families' screens right away.

How long we keep it

We keep household and child information while your family uses Habit Jr., until you delete it. If no one in your family uses Habit Jr. for 12 months (no adult signs in and no linked child device connects), we delete the family and everything in it. We email the family's owner at least 30 days before; opening the app keeps it. Some operational records are removed automatically sooner:

  • Records that make retries safe: 30 days.
  • Device pairing codes: deleted a day after they are used or expire.
  • Removed one-day tasks: kept 7 days so you can restore them.
  • Cheers between friends: 30 days. Friend invites: deleted a day after they are used, cancelled, or expire.
  • Server logs: 14 days. Logs never contain nicknames or task text.
  • Encrypted backups: 30 days, so deleted information is gone from backups within 30 days.

Your rights and choices

The household owner can export everything we keep, change a child's profile, delete a child's profile, and delete the whole household in Settings. Deleting requires signing in again. You can also withdraw permission for your child at any time by deleting their profile, or ask us at [email protected] and we will help.

Security

Information is encrypted in transit. On a child's device, the saved plan is encrypted. Each household's data is kept separate in our database, shared devices need a parent check before parent mode opens, and sensitive changes need a fresh sign-in.

Our website, waiting list, and contact form

If you join the waiting list on our website, we keep your email address with our email provider and use it only to tell you when Habit Jr. launches. The sign-up form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots, which may process technical signals from your browser for that purpose. Our website has no ads or ad trackers. To leave the list, use the unsubscribe link in our email or ask us at [email protected].

If you write to us through the contact form, we receive your name, email address, and message by email and use them only to reply. The form uses the same Turnstile check.

Do Not Track

We do not track you across other apps or websites, so we treat every visit the same way whether or not your browser sends a Do Not Track signal.

Changes

When we update this policy we change the effective date at the top. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies.

If we change how we handle children's information in a way that matters, we will ask for your permission again before it applies.
